Introduction to CETS

Hello Everyone! This is just a brief note about the purpose of this blog.

As a student at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire, I have been given the opportunity to study abroad in Central Europe. Unlike many more traditional study abroad programs the Central European Travel Seminar, or CETS, does not involve taking classes at an overseas university. Instead, a small group of students will tour many of the major cities of Central Europe under the guidance of three UWEC professors. We will focus on the history, geography, and music of the regions we visit and relate those topics to the development and formation of identity. During our month abroad, we will spend time in Berlin, Leipzig, Prague, Brno, Vienna, Budapest, and Krakow.

As part of our preparation for this course, every student going on the CETS trip has been asked to create a blog that reflects on what we have covered in class and will experience in Europe. In the next few weeks, I will be posting short entries pertaining to the cities I will be visiting as part of the trip. I am very excited and cannot wait to begin!

Thanks for reading!
